Springdale Farm History

Finger Lakes Bed and Breakfast Victor NY Springdale FarmBuilt in the early part of the 19th century, Springdale Farm was over 200 acres. Originally owned by the Mott family and used as a grain and vegetable crop farm, it derives its name for the many artesian springs on the property that supplied water for consumption and irrigation. The main spring, located south of the main house, is still in service—the water is pumped uphill with a hydraulic ram.

We have heard of people coming from miles around in years past to enjoy the reported restorative powers of this spring. The former owners told us that George Eastman (founder of Kodak) even came here on several occasions. Both of the original barns are still on the property and have been kept in very good condition. The larger of the two barns was actually moved to its present site from Palmyra, NY and reassembled. Evidence of a foundation for a silo can be seen.

Soon you will be able to enjoy our own free range eggs, YUM!
